A Surprise Lily...

I have been watching this come up for some time now. My friend and I were pulling weeds this past fall and came across the bulbs, but were unaware of what kind of bulb they were. I was excited to see the lily come up, and even more excited when it opened to be red. I love red flowers. Now, I only need more of them to make more of a statement. Next year...

Your yard is something amazing...I planted some calla lillies in Texas and they came up only one year....deep purple. What fun to have these to pick for a vase! And, the red one is lovely as well. Enjoy!

Thanks, Gretchen, I've been pondering for weeks, thinking which type of flower to plant in front of our bedroom window and in the planter in front of our porch. When I read your blog today, I remembered how much I love Calla Lillies! And I didn't know that they come in purple varieties! I've only seen white ones. I feel inspired.
